The past five years

July 18, 2012 at 6:12 pm (Uncategorized)

This year has been different.

I have been dealing with the loss of my son Levi, who died in a tragic car accident in 2007, at the age of 20. In an instant both of our lives were changed. I wondered how I could survive such a loss. The journey has not been an easy one. In the days following Levi’s death, I did not let the grief consume me. I made myself get up, get dressed, make coffee and begin my day. I had to press on through the sadness I felt. I found strength and peace in the mornings, having coffee and fellowship with Christ. I poured my heart out to him and then felt a sense of tranquility come over me.

I kept a journal, writing down my memories of being a single mother after my husband died of complications from diabetes. I have written many of my stories from my journal entries.

When I became angry at the person who contributed to my sons accident, I realized it was just an emotion I was feeling and nothing was going to bring Levi back. I chose forgiveness instead.
