In The Blink of an Eye…

We wake up each morning,

stumble to the coffee pot, get our children ready for school, and ourselves ready for work. We face the new day like any other day.  In the blink of an eye, our lives can be forever changed. I don’t take anything for granted anymore, and last Friday, my brother doesn’t either.

My brother works in a warehouse in California. J took a co-worker out to lunch because his friend seemed depressed. J thought it would be good to have a friend to talk to. That evening, my brother went to work as usual. His co-worker came into work that evening, took out a hand gun, and he committed suicide as his co-workers watched in horror. The plant was shut down immediately. My brother is in shock and grateful the guy did not start shooting people before turning the gun on himself.

I do not know what the answer for gun control is, but I do not think these are isolated incidents. There are going to be more school shootings, more movie theater shootings, and more mall shootings until we can find a solution to the problem. I don’t know about you, but I want to feel safe going to the local mall. I do no want to wonder if it will be my last shopping trip. I guess one can never tell what state of mind another is in until it is too late. I want to keep my right to bear arms,  but we do need to address a serious problem.
