Monday Power Outage Caused by Osprey

During our rain storm on Monday,

there also was a power outage affecting 1,325 residents in a North Idaho city. The outage was reportedly caused by an osprey dropping branches on the power lines. The birds were landing in the trees  causing branches to fall onto the power lines which shorted out power for just over an hour. Only in Idaho do you not only have to watch for moose and deer crossing the roads but now osprey shorting out the power to your community. Most of the time residents here think the power outage was due to the high winds we were having or someone probably hit a transformer and knocked out our power but no,it was a bird!

I love living in my small city community; I have lived here for the past 32 years now I have watched the small town grow into a small city. I love living by so many lakes in our area. It is nice on a warm spring day, to take a  drive and watch for deer or quail while enjoying the scenery.  There are so many small towns with festivals in the spring, there is something for everyone. I love to watch the lawn mover races or take in a fishing derby and see who catches the biggest fish for bragging rights. It is really fun to watch the kids get into the fishing derby and compete with the family for bragging rights.

Some of the areas sleepy towns are beginning to get a make over including where I live. I have always loved my home town, but I am excited to see the improvements starting this summer. I remember when I moved here in 1981, I kid you not, there was only one blinking light at the end of town.; There were 3,000 people living here-now there are 35,000 living here. The city may have grown, but the people have stayed the same. It has been a nice place to raise a family, there is always plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiasts. Who doesn’t like seeing a deer or and elk across the road from you? (Some people are fortunate).
