Living With The Attitude Of Graditude.

Sometimes it is hard to be thankful

for all we are blessed with when we see school shootings, natural disasters, the fears of the government shut down and then a last-minute plan to not default. Even with everything that seems is spiraling out of control, we still have so much we can be thankful for. If we look around us, we see extreme beauty in our midst. The changing colors of the leaves, the fall crisp air, Friday night football games, getting together with friends for the long-awaited bon fire.

Some people are not satisfied no matter what. What a waste of time and effort and energy.  It seems like everyday we get more hurried in our day-to-day lives and forget to stop and smell the roses. There are so many ways to appreciate what the day has to offer. That first cup of coffee on a chilly morning, the warmth of family and friends, not loosing sight of what is important. I found the advanced tween attitudes do not last forever, this to shall pass(you fill in the blank), is this worth arguing over really?

I try to find one thing to be thankful for everyday. It is not always easy to keep an attitude of gratitude. Six years ago, my son Levi set off with some friends to float the river, by that evening, both our lives were forever changed. My son died that evening in a tragic car accident. He was only 20. As time passes, the pain lessens, but I have wonderful memories of the son I raised as a single parent and I am proud of the fine young man he had become. Life sometimes hit you hard, but life is made fo living to the fullest, sharing with dear friends and most of all worth toasting!
