My name is Julie DeGon, I am a Northwest author of the book “Healing in the Storms”. The inspiration of the book came from my late husband and son. The book starts out in my life growing up a twin on our ranch in California, to my life as a single woman to my married life to my husband who died from his disease to my life raising my son alone until his death at age 20 in 2007.

Life has been known to through you curve balls. I always threw the curve balls back. Life as we know is not always easy, but if we keep pressing ahead and not dwelling on the past, we can make it through this thing we call life.

My life changed over night one summer day in 2007. The best gift God could have ever given to me was killed. People ask me today still, “I don’t know how you do it.”  My choice is to keep getting up everyday and get dressed, eat my breakfast, keep my house clean, I choose not to be sad all the time, yes, I have lived through a tragedy most parents can not imagine, but you keep moving forward in your life and know that it does get better.

I never thought I would have in a millon years would write a book. I am blessed that my book has helped other parents who have lost a child.

The best compliment I can recieve is from people I have not seen in many years tell me’Thank you for writting an amazing book”. I get told also  that they are inspired by the fact I am not bitter about what had happened to me. When you have a strong faith in God, you know you will heal and life will get better.
