Either you like the snow,or you do not….

January 19, 2012 at 11:29 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

Yesterday, it snowed here five inches, today  it is Still snowing hard . I almost got stuck in the parking lot at work because they didn’t plow it yet. Fun Times. Either you like the snow concept or you do not. Today my thoughts run in the middle. I like the snow, I think it is pretty but not when you have to drive in the stuff around the people who do not know how to drive in the stuff. The police is out patrolling the streets not to keep us safe today, they are checking the  sorry soul who was driving to fast  when the morning temperature out was a mere 16 degrees outside.

I started my new job on Monday. I am liking it so far. I am cooking at an Assistant Living facility. I worked for the Company in 2004, when the Company had a big layoff, I think most of the employees were let go. My last job ended in November , so I have been looking for work like so many are these days. It is sad how many folks can’t make the rent anymore and there are kids hungry at night. We are supposed to be one of the richest nations. I think it is sad when families raised their kids in the family home in 1960, are loosing the home today.

I had a fun time this morning watching my little dog trudge through the snow up to her belly to go poop. Gizmo likes to take a stroll around the yard to find a good place. I do however have a problem with my dog and it is not cute anymore when it is one a.m. I do have to get up and work all day while you missy dog can lounge around the house all day and sleep if you want to.(There is something wrong with this picture). I had gotten Gizmo from my last  employer. I was taking care of an elderly man and when he died in November, his daughter asked if I could take Gizmo because she loved me and would listen to me.

I am working on a few stories to submit to a few publications this year. One story I am working on is for  ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul” There are two stories I would like to submit to. One story  is on being a parent.  I lost my husband to his disease when my son was young. As a young widowed mother, I had the awesome responsibility to raise my son. My son died in a car accident four years ago. The second story I am working on is ‘The Power of Being Positive’. Life comes at you fast .You have the choice in life when difficulties come ; You can be a lemon taster  or you can keep moving forward in the good things God still has for your life. My life changed in a moment literally. I choose to keep moving forward. Part of my being able to stay positive is a faith in God, and accepting my son’s death. There was nothing I could do about the situation.  Levi did not suffer. The next story I am working on is for a local publication called ‘Good News Northwest’. The paper has been good to publish excerpts from my book.

I am enjoying my life. I am in a good place. I enjoy my writing, my job, I have a great place to get dressed in the morning. My son’s room is my dressing room. I put his life in pictures up on the wall. I am glad I have great memories of raising my son, the best gift God could have ever given to me.

Christmas Eve Morning

December 24, 2011 at 7:26 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

It is once again Christmas Eve Morning, when all through my house, the dog has just started stirring to go tell me it was time for her to go outside. My dog had just come back in and settled next to her food, I came into the office to clear my head. As I sit here in my office sipping a cup of Christmas tea(coffee was hours ago) I look outside my window at the snow. I get a brilliant idea for my Christmas Blog.

My mind goes back to a time when Mary and Joseph had baby Jesus. There was not room for him so he was born in a stable. Jesus grew up with his brothers and sisters as we all did and went on to his public ministry. Jesus died a very painful death for our sins.

I write this story because when I was thinking about a Blog for this morning, I was married to a good man for 6 years. Jerry died on 12/17/1990 from his disease. I was left to raise our four-year old son Levi alone. I struggled to raise Levi as I think Mary sometimes did. At one point in Mary’s life, Joseph died. Back in those days a woman was not allowed to work outside of the home. I know her family helped to take care of her and her family, but I bet it was hard for her. Mary lost her first-born son. Jesus was from Heaven above, but He walked on this earth for 33 years. I was given the awesome privilege of raising a fine young man as Levi. My son died in a tragic car accident at age of 20 in July 2007.

I know as a mother and a wife Mary had many hard days. She missed her husband and I know she missed Jesus for a very long time. Some people want to put limits on someone who is in a time of grieving. The Bible does not tell us how long Mary grieved the death of Jesus. The Bible does not tell us how long the desiples grieved either. I can tell you that this Christmas Season is like the last 4 christmases without my son. It is an empty spot in your life that nothing will fill. I am Blessed to have loving family and friends who care when I am going through a hard time  and I know I can count of them even to have a cup of coffee and talk.

In this Christmas Season of joy and giving, give your spouces an extra hug and an extra Christmas kiss to your children and loved ones you hold dear. I wish you all the Very Merriest Christmas and the most prosperous New Year to come.

God Bless You

Making a Movie

November 13, 2011 at 3:45 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

I am taking a class called Making Movie Magic. As part of the final, I have to make a movie. Pretty cool huh. I decided to make the movie about my book signings. This is a  subject that is near and dear to my heart. It has been fun putting the finishing touches together. tomorrow I am recording the voice overs for my interveiws and my friend is writing and recording the music for my mini movie. I will have the finished product ready for Amazon.com and my Healing in the Storms page on Face Book next week sometime.

It is snowing here.Yipee… I have always loved the snow  and the coffee that just tastes better watching it snow in the comfort of your home sitting on the victorian couch and looking out the window and seeing the white fluffy stuff coming down. Now don’t all of you burst my bubble, I know I have to get out and shovel sooner or later, but for now, let me enjoy the snow falling. it is is beautiful. My pastor would say to me “I’m praying for you, who like the snow”. Ahh extra prayer who would not need that.

I am glad the long week is over with.Sometimes I just can’t wait until the weekend and other times, i am having a good week. I am for the most part just relaxing tomorrow morning until I work on the movie. I need to clean my house it has been a few weeks since I have had the chance to scrub the floors. I will get around to it I hope.

A Very Busy Two Weeks.

October 31, 2011 at 3:29 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

I have had a very busy two weeks so far. Last weekend, I went to a Heavenly Tea party. I bought four kinds of tea to sip in one of my pretty cups on my Victorian settee. I had a good time listening to all the health benefits of sipping a good cup of tea. I was surprised to learn that drinking 2 cups of green tea a day can reduce your risk of cancer by 70 per cent.Wow. It is getting colder here now, so I like to sip my tea watching it rain or watch the dreaded snow fall on the weekend. There were new friends made, good cups of tea and also some good food served as well. So my Saturday was a nice one.

Sunday, was my mom’s birthday last week. She had some good friends over for her luncheon after church. It was nice to see everyone again and to help celebrate mom turning 74 this year. I took mom out to dinner Wednesday night at Applebee’s. She is not able get to go out much, so it was fun to go somewhere for a little while.

I submitted a request to buy some radio time from air One radio. I also requested a telephone interview. The station e-mailed me back. I will keep you posted on when the radio commercial will be played. I will also post the commercial to my FB page and Amazon.com page as well. I also submitted two more stories to Chicken soup For The Soul book and Angels On Earth book. I will let  know what I hear back. The magazines did not accept my last round of stories to be printed, but then you just keep submitting. This has been such an exciting time in my life. I never in my wildest dreams though for one, I would write a book, and market it, or two be keeping as busy as I am now. It has been hard work and very rewarding as well.

In December, The Coeur d ‘Alene Library is hosting a big book signing event for all the local authors. There will be an art show, poetry reading and then the book signing itself. I am so excited to be part of this fullfilled event.I plan on reading a poem that my son had written. I will also be telling a little bit about my book. I am proud to be able to be part of Idaho Writer’s League. I get to be a part of a geat group of people who share ideas and help you create better material.

In November, I will be attending two events.. One will be a Mary Kay Christmas Party next weekend already. The second event will be a craft fair at the Post Falls High School. Gosh, then the next week after that is Thanksgiving already. Mom and I are going across the street to her neighbors house. I also told mom, she could not wear her sunday best over to dinner.(her night gown and bathrobe) I also told her no book in hand as we go over either. I know I am no fun at all. You have look presentable to the Thanksgiving dinner nor can you read while over there. I am just kidding. I don’t want any of my readers to tell me I am an aweful daughter. But folks who know my mom…

Have a very safe and Healthy Halloween tomorrow night. I have not decided where I am going yet. I have two church Harvest parties I could attend or I could stay home and hibernate. the latter idea sounds ralyy good so far. I am really tired from working 10 hour days anymore.

The Leigh family Reunion

October 15, 2011 at 4:17 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , )

I had so much fun today getting together with family members I haven’t seen in a long time. Some of my family, it has been too long. My cousin candy came to visit with her husband from Washington. They were on their way to Sturgis. I love Dennis’s new Harley. I took a fun pose on the bike like I was relaxed on the seat. It was great to get updated pictures from my cousins and aunts. I will post them early next week for you to see.

I submitted a story to the Chicken Soup For the Soul book. It is on FamilyCare giving. We all know I have zero experience on this subject. It was fun to set down and let my mind create a new story that will be inspiring and Glorifingto god. I coudn’t be able to have the attitude I have everyday if it wasn’t for His Grace, peace ,love and encouragment. I am glad I am able to find a few more

stories to get my name out there more. I will be submitting a new story for Good News. The last story wasn’t printed for some reason, so I will just try a new one for next Month’s issue. I am having fun putting together  new material and keep my writting current. It is easy when you work a lot or are really tired, to not write anything.

I am still waiting to hear from KVNI about interveiwing me about the book. When I know, I will post the time. I will be putting the interveiw on FB, and you tube as well.

Writting hs been such a creative outlet for me. After the death of my son, I coiuld have become bitter and angry at life, God, the world. It doesn’t solve any problems, it just makes you bitter, angry and make people not want to be around you. I hate lemon tasters. I am able to put some feelings and emotions down on paper, edit  what I want to say and then put the finished project on my Healing in the Storms FB site, or the blog or in a magazine article. It has been such an amazing journey that God has been taking me on. Last year, I couldn’t type very well, now I am doing well. It is funny when you have a simple request for God and he does answer you but, you get to have fun in learning how to type better and faster. When I look back on all my  GoodNews stories and newspaper stories or story submissions I have been involved in the last year, is just amazing to me.

Don’t click off this post please. I know some of my readers are summer beach goers and some of us like the dreaded S word. It is true.I am looking forward to searching for the Fall leave tour in the area. I love to get a coffee from a coffee stand(Fall Aholic) not kidding. You combine coffee, carmel and butter rum for an earthy flavor.I know some of you are wondering what the coffee tastes like. A leaf.It is not a sweet flavor it tastes like fall.

I am updating the blog and added some stories to the “Healing in the Storms” page of FB.

I guess my blog has gotten a facelift without my knowing about it. The background has changed it seems. I like it, so it is okay with me. I am getting together with a friend to see if I can increase my readers and see if I can blog differently. Becaus I have some free time, I am looking into an audio recording of a couple excerpts from the book. I am excited to be able to have my friends listen to a couple of stories from the book. I am trying to get an e-book out as well. I am doing the research since I have a few days off now I can devote to reorganize some of my websites to be better sources of information.

I don’t have to much happening in October. I have a book signing/ one year celebration for the book next week and then it is mom’s birthday.

I am half way through writing the next book”More Healing in the Storms” I had a dear friend ask me recently, “Is the second book going to be as good as your first one I hope” This warmed my heart. Yes, I think it will as good as the first one. I have some more stories of Moorpark and i get to tell on my husband Jerry some more, and who could forget the antics of my precious son?

Barking out the car window(Not MINE) But that is another story…

I have had a blessed year so far. I knooow God still has some more surprises in store for my life. I am just glad I had listened to Him and wrote the book even if I made a few mistakes. I was working  two jobs at the time. But it has been well received so far.

The End Of Vacation…..

August 15, 2011 at 3:32 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Tonight is the end of my week vacation. . I had a good week anyway.

Wednesday I went with a good friend who happened to have her vacation the same time I did,how did this happen? We went around Hauser Lake, had lunch and then went part way around Hayden Lake. it was a beautiful day for a drive. we haven’t been able to get together in a long time. we both have different schedules.

Thursday I went to the Post falls the chamber to get some info on becoming a member. I also would like to become a member of the Post falls Women in Business. I look forward to the business opportunities they have to offer this author.

Friday- I went to the Parade of Homes in Post falls and in Hayden Lake. A friend and I were able to veiw some beautiful homes in our area. I always look forward to this event the end of summer. I submitted another story to the GoodNews Northwest Publication. Let’s see if they print this story. I have been attempting for the past 3 months to have 2 stories published. I am still waiting to hear back on the submission to the Chicken Soup story. It would be an honor to have one of my stories printed They go all over the world.

Saturday- Had my assistant help me to get the ol computer started up and running again. It just got disconnected. I also posted a few more pictures in my Healing in the Storms page on FB.

Sunday- Doing laundry now. Earlier today, I went around Fernan Lake to see a couple homes in the Parade of Home Tour. I couldn’t find the house, so I drove around the Lake. it was fun to see all the families out fishing on the banks and in boats. The Lake was a pretty blue/green today. Perfect day to be out and about. I did find a couple more houses to look at on my way home. Now it is almost 8:30 and I am winding down and get ready for work tomorrow.

I am looking into a few more book signings for the last part of summer. I will keep yu posted on more info. I am also looking into a couple more interveiws to post of my FB page.

Thank You for your continued support and looking at my various pages and web sites. It helps to know a few of you are out there and reading my blog and seeing my FB pages.
