Either you like the snow,or you do not….

January 19, 2012 at 11:29 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

Yesterday, it snowed here five inches, today  it is Still snowing hard . I almost got stuck in the parking lot at work because they didn’t plow it yet. Fun Times. Either you like the snow concept or you do not. Today my thoughts run in the middle. I like the snow, I think it is pretty but not when you have to drive in the stuff around the people who do not know how to drive in the stuff. The police is out patrolling the streets not to keep us safe today, they are checking the  sorry soul who was driving to fast  when the morning temperature out was a mere 16 degrees outside.

I started my new job on Monday. I am liking it so far. I am cooking at an Assistant Living facility. I worked for the Company in 2004, when the Company had a big layoff, I think most of the employees were let go. My last job ended in November , so I have been looking for work like so many are these days. It is sad how many folks can’t make the rent anymore and there are kids hungry at night. We are supposed to be one of the richest nations. I think it is sad when families raised their kids in the family home in 1960, are loosing the home today.

I had a fun time this morning watching my little dog trudge through the snow up to her belly to go poop. Gizmo likes to take a stroll around the yard to find a good place. I do however have a problem with my dog and it is not cute anymore when it is one a.m. I do have to get up and work all day while you missy dog can lounge around the house all day and sleep if you want to.(There is something wrong with this picture). I had gotten Gizmo from my last  employer. I was taking care of an elderly man and when he died in November, his daughter asked if I could take Gizmo because she loved me and would listen to me.

I am working on a few stories to submit to a few publications this year. One story I am working on is for  ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul” There are two stories I would like to submit to. One story  is on being a parent.  I lost my husband to his disease when my son was young. As a young widowed mother, I had the awesome responsibility to raise my son. My son died in a car accident four years ago. The second story I am working on is ‘The Power of Being Positive’. Life comes at you fast .You have the choice in life when difficulties come ; You can be a lemon taster  or you can keep moving forward in the good things God still has for your life. My life changed in a moment literally. I choose to keep moving forward. Part of my being able to stay positive is a faith in God, and accepting my son’s death. There was nothing I could do about the situation.  Levi did not suffer. The next story I am working on is for a local publication called ‘Good News Northwest’. The paper has been good to publish excerpts from my book.

I am enjoying my life. I am in a good place. I enjoy my writing, my job, I have a great place to get dressed in the morning. My son’s room is my dressing room. I put his life in pictures up on the wall. I am glad I have great memories of raising my son, the best gift God could have ever given to me.

The End Of The Year

December 29, 2011 at 3:03 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

It is the end of another year,I hope this year leaves you with fond memories and looking ahead for 2012. This year has been so amazing to me. I can not believe how busy I have been. I was  blessed with writting my first book last October, and I have been busy hosting a few parties at my house and at a few dear friends home to celebrate the book event. With two dear friends, we all went together on our ad and had a book signing this summer at the First Friday event at Possiblities. What fun it was to sit out in front of the store and talk to all the folks who came by. I said hi to so many friends I have not seen in awhile. This spring, I hosted a very special Victorian Tea Party for two special young ladies. What a fun time thier grandmother and a mother had that afternoon. I taught the two girls how to set up the tea party, we made all the food and set the table before the grandmother and mother arrived. I used the nicest china plates my boss gave to me for the party.

I started to writ down a few stories for the new book I am currently working on. I was given the pleasure of working at a little farm in my hometown that is called”The Little Red Raspberry Farm” It reminds me where I grew up with my twin brother on our ranch. The owner of the house built his home with his son in law and grandsons over thirty years ago. I sat down on the back porch and listened to all the families who came to pick the berries, laughing and talking and having a good time. I wrote seven chapters in a day just letting my mind wonder about when I grew up riding my horse in the orchard behind the house. Rich had an acre of property a couple of years ago, his daughter and I went and bought him some chickens to complete the ranch feel. His daughter painted the hen house barn red and white trim. The ladies as we call them love to run around and peck in the dirt. I am serious, this was one of my best jobs I have ever had.

What do I have in store for my new year? Let me see, in my future, I am seeking employment like so many other folks are. I so look forward to putting on the finishing touches for my video trailer for the book. I am planning on doing a few book signings and marketing an e-book . I will still be busy and I hope to see more of you awesome people. I can not tell you how blessed I feel. I had one of the best gifts God could have ever given to me even if for while. My  son Levi and my late husband  were the inspiration for my books. I had so many stories to tell on them about. Your kind words and encouragement has been so appreciated. This has been a difficult journey to walk through. Iam healing more everyday. I get up every morning with my cup of coffee on my Victorian couch and have coffee time with the Lord. He is my inspiration to keep moving forward and never looking backward.

Have the rest of a Blessed Holiday season. I look forward to the new year because it holds some Glorious things in it. There are so many things that I am grateful for. I am so thankful for the good memories that keep my life going forward, loving friends and family that encourage me .

God Bless you all

Julie

End of Summer News

October 5, 2011 at 2:29 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Wow, it is turning cold already. Where has our summer gone to? Last week we had some 80 degree temperatures, this week it is in the 60’s. I love Fall though. it is my favorite time of the year. I can’t wait to take my fall drive and look at all the changing colors of the leaves. I get a coffee and start looking for the leaves.

I love downtown because on Government way, all the maple trees are starting to change colors now. it is beautiful.

I need to catch-all my readers up to what has happened the past few weeks. I stopped blogging for a few weeks because I was trying to take an online class in freelance writing and blogging. Well… I could not log on to the class and after 8 days of trying to take my class(I really looked forward to taking this class.)

I gave up and asked for a refund for the class. I wanted to learn the tricks write a blog that people want to read. That is what the class had said.

I had a great birthday. Thank you so  much for the birthday greetings on FB.I had a quiet night on Tuesday. Jeff had to work in California. It was a hard birthday because Jeff could not be here to help me celebrate the BIG 50.

At the end of September, I went with a  friend to Beauty Bay on Lake Couer d’Alene  I had a nice relaxing morning sitting on the dock and watching boaters and the water skiers. I took the climb up to the outhouse behind my friends float house. it was an interesting trek up the hill I will tell you. There was not really a marked trail to get to the out house, then I thought I was going to get stuck because I could not get the dumb door to open when I was coming out. I finally made it out of the out house ordeal and sat down on a swing a few feet from the out house. Then I saw the deer droppings. I just decided to back to my quiet lounge chair and just take in the view of the lake. My friend and her family rebuilt the float house dock last year. I think my friend told me the dock was floating away. I know she put a lot of work into this vacation home and it looks great. In Idaho, you do not have to go very far to have a home away from home.

As far as October is looking, I have sent out some press releases for the book and I am currently working on a radio commercial to try to generate some new interest in my book. The book is doing well, but I would like to market the book to a wider public interest. I can not believe the book has been published one year now. It is amazing the fun I have had writing and publishing “Healing in the Storms”. Thank you for those of you who has bought a copy of the book. I have been getting so much good feed back on the book. I am slowly working on my second book “More Healing in the Storms”. I am having fun writing this book as well. This time I mam not working two jobs trying to write at the same time. I have more time to think this year.

I am excited to announce I am having a first year since the release of “Healing in the Storms” party October 21,2011. I hope to see a lot of you at Rosalie Storments home on the Highlands to help me celebrate.

I am watching the a squirel playing, chasing each other around the tree. They are so cute to watch them play and bury the nuts and apples to get ready for winter. I can say that bad word because I like the snow. I love sitting in my office and drinking coffee and writing this blog. I will write some more soon. Be sure to check out my FB page for the book to see pictures. Have the rest of a great week.

Had a great time at a special baseball game

July 24, 2011 at 3:22 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Today, I went into Couer d’ Alene to a baseball game . A friend of mine is a treatment program. The judge had a ball game the judges court against the guys in his program. The judge won this time… Rematch again next year. I am glad he puts this on every year, because it is a fun time had by all.

I am redoing my back yard. I have a cousin coming in 2 weeks and I am in the planning stages of putting together a first year party to celebrate the book “Healing in the Storms”. I am putting in lavender in hopes I can keep it alive long enough to enjoy it. (You garden specialists laugh) I am not kidding. I need tips to keep my back yard alive. I have a great lawn care person, but the rest of it, left up to me,dies. (I do water!)

I can’t believe that summer is getting ready to come to a close after next month. I am not fooling, it goes by faster every year now. I love the Fall of the year and putting everything to bed. Some people live for Spring when everything comes out and blooms. I just have always liked to take a fall drive and see all the pretty colors and the cool crisp air..Oh I am sorry I know some of you are cringing right now. I will try and enjoy what is left of my summer.

I have a few more events I am working on like another interveiw, plus the radio interveiw, and a few more book signings. This has been a fun journey I am on. I never would have thought that one, I would write a book that has gotten so much positive responce. I am so blessed to have friends and familt like you who continue to support me. Thank you.

Nice saturday…

July 16, 2011 at 5:10 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , )

This morning is a beautiful Saturday. I have a few things to do. I am taking my mom to Walmart to get her glasses and a few groceries, a neighbor and I are re spray painting a couple of outside chairs for mom for her big family reunion in a couple weeks. I am going to edit a video I had done last weekend at the Garden Plaza book signing. I had so much fun at the book signing. I was able to see some friends I haven’t been able to connect with for awhile.

Some of you may have read my story about Levi in the Press this week. It was truly a tribute to a fine young man my son had become. he is truly missed everyday. I will post a video he appeared in a few years ago at a concert. It is hard to beleive he has been gone now 4 years. time goes by so fast anymore I can’t keep up.

I will be updating my blog more this weekend. Some of you may have gotten an invite to my BeKnow page. I would appreciate some feed back from you. I value everyone of you and love keeping in touch. thank you for all your on going love and support for the book and me as a person.

Garden Plaza Book Signing

July 10, 2011 at 4:46 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , )

I had a fun day today. I signed books at Garden Plaza this afternoon in Post Falls. My assistant shot some video footage and also took some pictures. I am editing the video now, and will get it posted in a couple days. One of the videos will be on Amazon.com and the interveiw will be on FB and my blog. I never dreamed tha I would been doing my 4th book signing this summer. I love meeting all the people, my friends and getting to talk about my book.

I am planning on a couple more book signings this summer that some of you may be able to attend, I am planning one in a beautiful private back yard on the lake. I want to set the signing up as a party to celebrate not just sign books. I am also planning on having a signing at Barnes and Noble in August. I have a few more in mind, I will post the dates as soon as I have them confirmed. It is shaping up to be a good summer this year.

I will be submittingto the press the story I had written for Levi next week.  Keep an eye out for this article. I am also looking into the Spokesman review as well. I wanted to remember Levi next week.

I have my radio interview in the works plus a radio commercial is close to being done and put out on the radio air waves. it is fun to see this end of the marketing. i usually just get to enjoy someone elses radio commercial and like to hear it. it will be weird to hear about your book on radio.

I submitted my book to Spring Arbor distrubution. If they like my book, and accept it, they will help promate the book as well. This could be exciting. I am also planning on checking into mor book clubs as well this summer. I love even though I may be slow at getting to projects, when they start to come together, you want to do more.

Like I said, I will keep you posted on upcoming projects and book signings. Thank you for all your support and reading my blog.

The Bed And Breakfast Open House Today

June 12, 2011 at 4:35 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

I am off to the Idaho B&B Spring open house this afternoon.I have gone to this function for the past 4 years now. Before I had the weekends off, I had to request the day off and pray they remembered to give me the day off so I could go. Mom,when she could walk better used to attend with I and a few of the Post Falls Flappers. It was so much fun to be with these ladies.I probably will go alone today as my friend was busy. I needed to get out for a few hours before I head back to the new work week. As a joke,I used to have friends come to my “Mock”B&B tour with lunch included.Someone was concerned because she really thought I was a B&B Host and needed to be at home that day so people could tour my home as well.It was a great feeling someone thought my home would even be a contender.

I really have worked hard to spruce the place up. 2 weeks ago I went to an Estate sale that had all Victorian(I was born in the wrong era) staples.I did not over spend mind you,but I did get some great deals.it truly is a great feeling to be able to say I am finished with my house. Now I just have to be home long enough to keep the outside looking good.I keep the lawn done, but I am NOT a gardener in any form.God Bless you guys that Love yard work and can work outside on the weekend for hours. I can not.

I was honored four summers ago, when a dear friend of mine gave me a pine tree for the back yard in Levi’s memory. The tree is doing well. This gester along with a nice Bird bath gave me the desire to make the back yard look good.I try to Victorian it up(come on) I love the style of the decorating inside and out.It is my piece of happiness.

Summer is now kicked off.Yeah to some of you eww to others. I have been on the eww side of things,I hope the sitter works out this summer. It is so hard to try to find someone on a moments notice.

May God richly Bless you where you are today, may you sense Him smiling down on you with His Glory and Love He has for you and your life. i am Blessed to have everyone of you in my life and thank you dearly for reading my blog and for your friendship. Have a great day.

Have A Happy And Safe Memorial Day

May 29, 2011 at 11:35 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to all of you who are now serving and the ones who have served in our Military in the past. Words can not express our gratitude for all of your sacrifice.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow, some of you like I will be working and are thannkful we have a job to go to.I have the best employer.I am like part of the family and it is a great feeling to be able to go over and just hang out and visit.Last weekend,my boss and I went to the estate sale together and then to the farmers market.I love taking care of my older gentleman.I took some kidding when I first got the job,but I like what I am doing, and God wanted me there, and I had the time to write my first book while taking care of Rich. I have learned that sometimes people wonder why you like doing something, but when God plants the desire in your heart, there is nothing else you would want to be doing in it’s place.

May God richly bless where you are in Him,always be still and know He is God,and know all things work out for good for those who love him.I hope you reall Know how much you are loved by the father and by your friends and family.I am blessed you read my blog.

The cutest story I can think of is one day I was browsing through my son Levi’s My Space, the general question was”Who was your hero?’ Levi said”The guy who invented gatorade.” God Bless Julie
