Have a happy And safe Holiday

September 2, 2012 at 8:49 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

It is hard to believe that tomorrow is Labor day!

Where has the summer gone? I can remember it was almost yesterday, when the kids were letting out of school for the summer vacation. Now, they are heading back already. I still get a big kick out of shopping around school time. I love to hear the parents interact with the children because not so long ago, I was there also. Levi was easy to buy for. My son  knew there were only him and I in the household since his dad died, and I did not have the money for the brand names in clothes and shoes, so he didn’t ask me to buy them. His school supplies cost enough as it was.

I have a fond memory of when my mom, my son and I spent the day together. I remember we went for a drive and had lunch and then we went shopping. I found Levi two tee-shirts I thought he might like. Levi found two pair of jeans he did like. Both outfits cost me a total of $17.00. As we were leaving the store, my son came beside me and commented ” can we go to Wal-Mart next after we drop Grandma off home and do some more shopping?’ We never made it back to Wal-Mart. the last photo I had taken of my son was in front of his beloved car. he was wearing the jeans I had bought for him a couple of weeks before. My son died in a car accident a few weeks later.I treasure every memory I have been given.

Tomorrow is Labor Day. I give a big thank you to the men and woman of the Armed Forces who have served our country to give me the freedoms I can enjoy. My brother was a Marine. I am very proud of the man he became. I do not get to see much of my brother. Like so many of us, we are scattered across the country.

Tomorrow, my mom’s neighbors are having a BBQ. We talked my mom into going. My mom has had a hard time since my dad and my son has passed away.I am glad the neighbors have adopted my mom and I as an extended family. They get her mail for her and visit with her when I am unable to due to working. The neighbors were a lot of help when my dad progressed in his illness. I can remember when my dad could still participate in outings, both families would go to a nearby lake and go boating or fishing. In the winter, Darren across the street had an ATV. We would either go sledding behind his ATV or behind my dads jeep. I sometimes miss the old neighborhood. The families moved and the kids grew up as they will do. Mom lives in a nice neighborhood still, just quieter. The house is quieter because Levi isn’t playing one of his computer games and kids calling until 12 o’clock anymore. Miss those days…..

everyone have a happy and safe Holiday. Some parents will cry the first day they drop their child off to school, the others come to my house for coffee!

God richly bless every one of my readers.

The Bucket List.

July 30, 2012 at 9:37 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , )

Ever since the movie had come out,

we have a bucket list of things to complete before we die. I have only two on my list. Actually, three. I had always wanted to be married with 11 children. Well, two out of 11 was not bad I guess. Both my husband and son died at a young age. Life can  be cruel at times and other times give you the best years of your life. One of the things I wanted to accomplish in my life was to write. I am a published author and have written many stories and articles for papers and books. I have always had a love for the Victorian homes. I live in a ranch style home with the Victorian charm added inside. My dream had always been to tour a true Victorian era home. This has been on my bucket list for several years. Victorian home came on the market recently. The home is located on 10 acres of previous historic homestead. I am going to visit this painted lady and take in all the Victorian  interiors I can. I feel like I have won the dream lottery.

After I had lost my son to a car accident five years ago, I found myself needing to  work many hours to keep my mind occupied. I have always worked  full-time as a single parent, to provide for my son. Now, as and empty nester, I worked to fill the void Levi’s death left. . Every year, I  try to go to the Parade of  Homes in my area. I like to see how the homes are decorated each year. I have been to many up scaled neighborhoods over the past few years. It was nice when I could request the day off from work and attend the event with some friends.

I  keep busy with writing new stories and participating with  book signings of my new book. Life is much to short to be bitter or angry. There was nothing I could do about the outcome of my son’s accident. I was given 20 precious years with my son. I know I will not be a grandmother, but I was fortunate   to have conceived a child. Because of my husband’s illness, we were told we could not have children. God had other plans for our lives. You have to watch what you are gripping about and count at your blessings instead. I have lived a very blessed life. Even if I had to press through some rough storms along the way.

I can not believe summer is almost over. We just started to get some summer, and school is right around the corner again. It is fun to go shopping and watch the mother/ child interaction take place. I remember  buying clothes and school supplies for Levi when he went to school.  My son always liked to shop almost as much as his dad enjoyed shopping. When Levi was a baby, my husband I would go shopping at the local mall  for the day. It does not seem like 20 years has passed already.

I have another book signing in August. I hope to see some of my readers here and  have your picture taken with a camel.I enjoy getting to meet some of you. I hope this blog post has blessed you. I welcome comments and like to interact with my readers.

New Years End Trends

December 31, 2011 at 6:21 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

It is now New Years Eve morning when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even my dog as she has already eaten, gone outside, barked at the neighboring dogs, and is nestled quietly back in her warm bed. I am once again sitting here in my office with this time my morning cup of coffee. Today is sunny, cold but no 40 mile an hour wind blowing. I was just sitting here thinking about what I had heard from a popular news program I never watch. There seems to be some growing trends at the end of this year there are as follows:

It seems to be a growing trend I hear to show off and actually wear our Christmas gifts. I know I am only fifty, but when I was growing up, this was called polite and good manners. You always are seen in what grandma and grandpa bought you and it did NOT matter if you liked it or not. When you seen your grandparents, aunts uncles and such, you told them thank you again for the gift. If it is a birthday mind you, you sent a HANDWRITTEN thank you note. (A little side note to add, if I had ever thought of saying what I might had been thinking, because I did not like something, I would have been a wall fixture somewhere).

The next growing trend is the little girls and boys that are on you tube showing off expensive bags, jeans and such with a “non-bragging disclaimer.” when there are so many children homeless and nothing to eat I do not feel sorry for some little ” ”  who did not get his or her iPhone this year. Poor maybe not poor dad did not know the little girl was disappointed until it was on you tube. I am sorry, but my son at 15 years old, bought his own phone, and paid for his own plan because I was a single parent,he knew one I could not afford his phone and plan also, I was not going to pay for his luxury.

The next growing trend is on a commercial. WHY do we have Ansestry.com? Over the last couple of years, I can not tell you how many countless hours my mom and I have sat in her living room and just talked about her life in Chatsworth. My mom lived next to the Stage coach Inn(anyone remember the movie Golden Ear ring?) My mom used to go all through the Stage coach Inn when she was a little girl. The movie  Company left everything when the movie was done filming.I know things have really changed in the last few years. I love to hear about her family in Kansas and Colorado. This is why I do not understand why we have a website to tell us about our past. If  we wanted to go back and see how far we can trace our roots, okay, but when there is a commercial on about having dinner at the table as a family that is hard to swallow. My family growing up always sat at the table and talked about our days. if we needed help with homework or such, it was there. Mom and dad got home the same time every night.

I just know things have really changed in the past few years.it is sad there are no jobs to speak of for our youth. There are no jobs for the adults either. it is getting harder and harder to provide for your family. Next Year we choose a new President Maybe anyway.

In 2012,I wish you joy, peace prosperity, happiness,a new sence of familt time, and be thankful you have a home to go home to and a family to fill the house.

A Special Treat

November 4, 2011 at 3:54 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Last week, as I was driving past the elementary school, I saw a sign for the Harvest party. The sign brought back memories of taking my son to the school carnival. I used to take Levi in his costume for a fun night of eating, games and watching him hang out with his friends. I was joking to myself that I wish I could go again and watch the kids. I knew you can’t if you don’t have a child, so i went on with my day. That evening, a friend of mine jokingly asked if I would want to chaperone her daughter and friend for an hour at ou guessed it the carnival. I said… It was a great hour that night. we ate pizza and walked around the whole school..big school and then I had to take them home. I also watched Richard for the daughter when I retuned the children to thier parents.

I can not believe tomorrow is Friday already. where did the week go? This week has been long in some sense and fast in another. The gentleman I take care of is sick so he is angry, but the week is still flying by. I look forward to saturday’s Mary Kay holiday open house. I always look forward to seeing Dolly. She is a fine director of Mary Kay and throws a great party. Even if you are shopping in her basement. You should see the cool basement she has for her work shop.

I went to the harvest party at real Life Church monday night. I was just going to go home and I felt like I was supposed to stop by for a while. I am so glad I had.I ran into Craig who officiated over Levi’s Memorial Service 4 years ago. It was fun to reconnect with him and his wife. I also ran into one of Levi’s best friends Mike has been calling me mom since he was in second grade. I got a huge hug from Mike and a promise to get together with his kids, wife and mom for the holidays.I also have another very special young man who calls me mom. His name is Ryan,I just want to say that these two young men don’t know what it has meant to me to be called mom after Levi died.I really don’t feel as lonely as I used to. It feels nice to be called mom.Plus, we don’t fight. I am honored these young men think of me as a mom to them It warms my heart.

I have some fun weekends coming up. I will keep you posted a plans start to shape up. have a great Friday and I will blog next week sometime.

October 16, 2011 at 2:27 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

“Healing in the Storms” will be out One year October 25,2010. I have put together an interview on my Healing in the Storms page on FB. it has been a great learning experience in marketing the book. It had been a lot of hard work involved but also so much fun.

second book. The next book is coming along. I have had fun trying to fit in writing right now. I work 10 hour days and then come home and write and then go to bed. It has been fun to remeber life on the ranch, riding my horse in the orchard behind our house in Moorpark. I will keep you posted how the new book is progressing.

My Fall Drive

October 16, 2011 at 2:11 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , )

I started my morning like all my mornings. I have 2 cups of coffee to wake up, and then I figure out what I am going to do with my day. Sounds exciting doesn’t it. I got a call from my neighbor and her boyfriend. We ended up going to Barnes and Noble to shoot some photos for the online interveiw today. The pictures came out great. I bought us a coffee(yes) and we headed over to Carver Farms in Washington. Ashley wanted to find a pumpkin for her little brother to carve. I felt like a kid again. I laughed, we rode on the hay wagon over to the pumpkins and then we went into the corn maze. Ashley commented this was the most fun she has had in  a long time. I agree it was a fun day .

I posted a online interveiw this afternoon on my Healing in the Storms page on FB. Be sure to check out the interveiw. I had fun putting this together to celebrate the First year release of the book.I am excited to see the book is doing rather well. it has been a wonderful expirence from the concept of writing the book, to putting the project together and then finally publishing my book. it has been interesting to see how a book is finished and then marketed.

I know fall is on it’s way pretty soon. The weather is changing. it is getting colder. I love this time of year. The leaves change color and and the sool nip in the air. The first day you put on your coat. So many people love to do last minute gardening and then put the garden to bed for the winter. I have had a gardener for a few years now.I have always worked long hours to try and provide for Levi whn he was younger, that I never had the time to keep my yard looking nice.It is nice I have good friends who can help me in the area.

End of Summer News

October 5, 2011 at 2:29 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Wow, it is turning cold already. Where has our summer gone to? Last week we had some 80 degree temperatures, this week it is in the 60’s. I love Fall though. it is my favorite time of the year. I can’t wait to take my fall drive and look at all the changing colors of the leaves. I get a coffee and start looking for the leaves.

I love downtown because on Government way, all the maple trees are starting to change colors now. it is beautiful.

I need to catch-all my readers up to what has happened the past few weeks. I stopped blogging for a few weeks because I was trying to take an online class in freelance writing and blogging. Well… I could not log on to the class and after 8 days of trying to take my class(I really looked forward to taking this class.)

I gave up and asked for a refund for the class. I wanted to learn the tricks write a blog that people want to read. That is what the class had said.

I had a great birthday. Thank you so  much for the birthday greetings on FB.I had a quiet night on Tuesday. Jeff had to work in California. It was a hard birthday because Jeff could not be here to help me celebrate the BIG 50.

At the end of September, I went with a  friend to Beauty Bay on Lake Couer d’Alene  I had a nice relaxing morning sitting on the dock and watching boaters and the water skiers. I took the climb up to the outhouse behind my friends float house. it was an interesting trek up the hill I will tell you. There was not really a marked trail to get to the out house, then I thought I was going to get stuck because I could not get the dumb door to open when I was coming out. I finally made it out of the out house ordeal and sat down on a swing a few feet from the out house. Then I saw the deer droppings. I just decided to back to my quiet lounge chair and just take in the view of the lake. My friend and her family rebuilt the float house dock last year. I think my friend told me the dock was floating away. I know she put a lot of work into this vacation home and it looks great. In Idaho, you do not have to go very far to have a home away from home.

As far as October is looking, I have sent out some press releases for the book and I am currently working on a radio commercial to try to generate some new interest in my book. The book is doing well, but I would like to market the book to a wider public interest. I can not believe the book has been published one year now. It is amazing the fun I have had writing and publishing “Healing in the Storms”. Thank you for those of you who has bought a copy of the book. I have been getting so much good feed back on the book. I am slowly working on my second book “More Healing in the Storms”. I am having fun writing this book as well. This time I mam not working two jobs trying to write at the same time. I have more time to think this year.

I am excited to announce I am having a first year since the release of “Healing in the Storms” party October 21,2011. I hope to see a lot of you at Rosalie Storments home on the Highlands to help me celebrate.

I am watching the a squirel playing, chasing each other around the tree. They are so cute to watch them play and bury the nuts and apples to get ready for winter. I can say that bad word because I like the snow. I love sitting in my office and drinking coffee and writing this blog. I will write some more soon. Be sure to check out my FB page for the book to see pictures. Have the rest of a great week.

The End of Summer

August 31, 2011 at 3:35 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , )

I can not believe that school in Post Falls is starting on Tuesday.I remeber when I saw the children leaping for joy and the parents groaning like I used to but that was because I always had to try to find day care on short notice for my son Levi. I had a good summer this year. I had the pleasure of meeting some good people at some book signings this summer, had some good BBQ’s, had a family reunion this summer.

I have submitted two more stories for two magazines this last week. One story is for Bliss Victoria, and the other story is for Country America magazine. I am satisfied with how the free-lance writing is coming along. A friend told me about a book that was being published for the “Chicken Soup Books”, I submitted a story to them and I am waiting to hear if the story is accepted. i didn’t think i would be writing stories for books or magazines. This is pretty fun. for one, the stories stretch your writing capabilities, and two, I am getting to write for magazines I have loved for many years and would give anything to have a story printed.

I will be taking a few classes this Fall at the Work Force Training Center. through NIC college, you can take special classes either for fun or earn a certificate. I am planning on taking a Voice over class. the lady that has the oil of olay commercial and Colgate Tooth paste commercial is teaching the class..

The second class is Movie making magic. I need to learn how to upload my video and edit the video and then I can narrate the video as well. It should be a fun class then I don’t have to have people come over and help me all the time.

The last class I am planning on taking is Free-lance writing and blogging. I want to write and blog that is read and that people want to read. I know there is always room to grow when you write or blog.

I should be having a good fall season. It is my favorite seadon of them all. I love the cool crisp air in the morning and in the evening. Coffe just tastes better when the air is chilly. I love to snuggle up in my favorite quilt with my son’s cat. Also Septemeber, Jeff and I turn 50. I look foward to the new season in my life. i have had a few new seasons in my life the past 5 years. I look at this time in my life as agrowing season, a time to heal and to laugh with friends over a good cup of coffee and a hug.

The End Of Vacation…..

August 15, 2011 at 3:32 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , )

Tonight is the end of my week vacation. . I had a good week anyway.

Wednesday I went with a good friend who happened to have her vacation the same time I did,how did this happen? We went around Hauser Lake, had lunch and then went part way around Hayden Lake. it was a beautiful day for a drive. we haven’t been able to get together in a long time. we both have different schedules.

Thursday I went to the Post falls the chamber to get some info on becoming a member. I also would like to become a member of the Post falls Women in Business. I look forward to the business opportunities they have to offer this author.

Friday- I went to the Parade of Homes in Post falls and in Hayden Lake. A friend and I were able to veiw some beautiful homes in our area. I always look forward to this event the end of summer. I submitted another story to the GoodNews Northwest Publication. Let’s see if they print this story. I have been attempting for the past 3 months to have 2 stories published. I am still waiting to hear back on the submission to the Chicken Soup story. It would be an honor to have one of my stories printed They go all over the world.

Saturday- Had my assistant help me to get the ol computer started up and running again. It just got disconnected. I also posted a few more pictures in my Healing in the Storms page on FB.

Sunday- Doing laundry now. Earlier today, I went around Fernan Lake to see a couple homes in the Parade of Home Tour. I couldn’t find the house, so I drove around the Lake. it was fun to see all the families out fishing on the banks and in boats. The Lake was a pretty blue/green today. Perfect day to be out and about. I did find a couple more houses to look at on my way home. Now it is almost 8:30 and I am winding down and get ready for work tomorrow.

I am looking into a few more book signings for the last part of summer. I will keep yu posted on more info. I am also looking into a couple more interveiws to post of my FB page.

Thank You for your continued support and looking at my various pages and web sites. It helps to know a few of you are out there and reading my blog and seeing my FB pages.

Had a great time at a special baseball game

July 24, 2011 at 3:22 am (Uncategorized) (, , , , , , , , , , , )

Today, I went into Couer d’ Alene to a baseball game . A friend of mine is a treatment program. The judge had a ball game the judges court against the guys in his program. The judge won this time… Rematch again next year. I am glad he puts this on every year, because it is a fun time had by all.

I am redoing my back yard. I have a cousin coming in 2 weeks and I am in the planning stages of putting together a first year party to celebrate the book “Healing in the Storms”. I am putting in lavender in hopes I can keep it alive long enough to enjoy it. (You garden specialists laugh) I am not kidding. I need tips to keep my back yard alive. I have a great lawn care person, but the rest of it, left up to me,dies. (I do water!)

I can’t believe that summer is getting ready to come to a close after next month. I am not fooling, it goes by faster every year now. I love the Fall of the year and putting everything to bed. Some people live for Spring when everything comes out and blooms. I just have always liked to take a fall drive and see all the pretty colors and the cool crisp air..Oh I am sorry I know some of you are cringing right now. I will try and enjoy what is left of my summer.

I have a few more events I am working on like another interveiw, plus the radio interveiw, and a few more book signings. This has been a fun journey I am on. I never would have thought that one, I would write a book that has gotten so much positive responce. I am so blessed to have friends and familt like you who continue to support me. Thank you.
