The love and support of family and friends.

I feel blessed to have been a wife and mother, even if for a little while.

I still have my mom.

Wonderful memories of my late son.

A good job that I love.

Willingness to lend a helping hand.

Remembering My Incredible Son

July 20, 2015 at 1:47 pm (Creative Non- Fiction, Life beyond parenting, Memoir, Middle age, Poetry, Single Parent, Sons, Uncategorized) (, , , )

Eight years ago you set out to float the river one sunny sunday morning with some friends,by that evening, both our lives were forever changed. There are no words Levi to describe the depth of grief I felt when I received the news you were involved in a tragic car accident. Five days and countless prayers later, God stood beside me as the machines were turned off.  With the love and support of family and friends, I have been on a long road of putting my life back together again.

You brought me joy, you were my world, and I am proud of the fine young man you became. Today, I rest in the comfort of God,who has walked me through this heartache no parent should endure. I have so many precious memories of your funny sayings, your infectious laugh, the sparkle in your eyes, and your love of life. you had many plans Levi, but now you smile down from heaven cheering us on and on and on.

I always celebrate you on this day with nachos, your favorite meal. I miss setting at the kitchen table sharing the meal.

Today is a different day ,but instead of feeling sorrow, I am thankful I could be Levi’s mother, even if for a little while. I love you Levi and I will see you soon.

Love mom.

Take the time to tell loved ones how much you care.

Enjoy the beauty of each new day,it was made just for you.

Sipping the first cup of coffee on a spring morning.

The morning chaos for school only lasts a short time.

Make the most out of the afternoon, walking the dog and kids (oops).

Planting a special garden the kids can take care of.

Enjoying the fruits of your labor.

Roasting hot dogs outside over an open fire.

Do the chicken dance as a family.

Try not to take life to serious, enjoy the small mistakes and laugh.

It is amazing how fast the children grow up and leave the nest.

Some parents enjoy the beauty of grandchildren and sleep overs.

Going fishing with grandpa and learning how to clean the catch.

Fly a kite at the beach.

At the end of the day, thank god for your blessings.

Life is too short to live in chaos.

Enjoy the beauty in each new day.

Letting go of what is not important.

A cup of coffee with a good friend.

A game of football with the kids.

Simplifying our lives.

Forgive often,healing the soul.

Hugging your kids extra tight today.

Let your children know how valued they are.

Plan a family reunion.

Cookouts in the park with a game of volleyball.

Taking the dog for a scenic walk.

Planting flowers with your grandchildren.

Roasting hot dogs over a campfire.

A family day of fishing.

Your young son picking you flowers from your garden-priceless.

Summer Splendor

Days spent at the beach.

Jump into the crashing waves.

Looking for sea shells.

Eating ice cream.

Flying a kite in the park

Feeding the ducks at the park.

Family time together doing whatever.

Taking the dog for a walk.

Visiting the grandparents.

Laying on the grass, watching the clouds.

Hop scotch with good friends.

Playing hide and seek.

Summer time memories-priceless. I hope your summer is filled with memories to last a life time.
